The board of directors of the Used Truck Association (UTA) has announced the death of current board president Michael McColgan.
McColgan passed away Monday, May 30, 2016. He had been a vital member of the trucking industry for many decades.
“This is an extreme loss to the Used Truck Association as well as the used truck industry,” says Rick Clark, president emeritus of the UTA.
“There are not many individuals like Mike who have the knowledge that he had. He was a man of great character and integrity. His word was his bond. Mike was known for his generosity, work ethic, and his sincere interest in helping others both within the association and within his own community in Greensboro, N.C.”
McColgan started his career in trucking when he joined Volvo Trucks North America in 1975. He stayed with Volvo for all of his 41-year-career, and has long been an active and vital member of the UTA. Although he started work with Volvo as a diesel truck mechanic, within six months he was moved into the sales department. In that short time, he clearly showed his managers that he had a gift for sales.
