In coordination with OOIDA, The OwnerOperator Independent Drivers Association, the Guilty by Association Truck Show was held September 27-29, 2018 in Joplin, MO. OOIDA and 4 State Trucks partnered to celebrate OOIDA’s 45th anniversary and the 10th anniversary of GBATS. Some top events at this year’s show included an LJ Jenkins Bull Riding event and the Lucas Oil Truck & Tractor Pull along with several other events that truck show attendees could participate in.
As the number of pre-registered trucks grew during the months leading up to the show, the 4 State Trucks crew had a feeling this would be the biggest GBATS to date. That “feeling” proved to be true on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, when the Guilty by Association Truck Show Registration Tent gates opened at 8 am and the number of trucks waiting to get parked grew on a daily basis. As the Registration Tent closed at noon on Friday, September 28, the final tally came to 693 trucks.
The show’s festivities kicked off Thursday night with a VIP Dinner hosted and sponsored by Brice and Bryan Martin of 4 State Trucks. Several show participants were called and those winners received anything from a pair of Hogebuilt Quarter Fenders courtesy of Hogebuilt to an Oil Change & Alignment from Pomp’s Tire. Other award sponsors included American Eagle Exhaust, Zephyr, Diesel Freak, WTI Fenders, and 4 State Trucks.
Over the course of the 3 day, 2 night event, truck show participants and over 13,000 show attendees enjoyed several free events including Big Rig Burnouts, an Autism Awareness Dunk Tank where $6,000 was raised for the Autism Foundation, a Shop Tour given by the 4 State Trucks crew, as well as a Kids Pedal Pull and the Convoy for Special Olympics.
Robin Anderson with the Special Olympics Organization said, “I cannot put into words how blessed and grateful I feel. This year exceeded all of our wildest dreams. No way 8 years ago I could ever imagine we would have over 500 trucks and raise over $195,000. Thank you to 4 State Trucks, all of our sponsors and drivers who got us to where we are today. You all have hearts of gold. Thank you all from our athletes that you support.”
The first 15 spots in the convoy were auctioned off and all convoy participants, consisting of 522 trucks, 100 more trucks than 2017, left the 4 State Trucks facility and made their way to Main Street in downtown Joplin, MO. The show’s grand finale was Saturday night at 7th and Main where Tony Justice opened up for country music group Confederate Railroad.
The entire crew at 4 State Trucks/Chrome Shop Mafia would like to extend their deepest appreciation to each and every GBATS participant, to OOIDA and all of our great sponsors for their support of the 10th Anniversary GBATS! They are very much looking forward to seeing everyone for the 11th Guilty by Association Truck Show event, to be held September 24,25 & 26, 2020! Be Safe and KEEP ON TRUCKING’!
